April 2025 Product Highlights: Accelerating Investigations Across Blockchains

This month, we’re introducing major updates that expand blockchain coverage and attribution, simplify tracing for large, complex transactions, and provide real-time visibility into portfolio balances and transaction volumes.

These updates are designed to help compliance teams and investigators uncover insights and patterns to make decisions faster.

New blockchain support: Near Protocol and ZKsync

We’ve expanded our blockchain intelligence coverage with support for Near Protocol and ZKsync. Investigators can now trace transactions, analyze activity, and conduct cross-chain analysis across these networks, gaining deeper visibility into the flow of funds.

In addition to adding two new chains, we’ve also enhanced our support for Hedera, enabling real-time transfers, complete ownership and counterparty risk exposure, and native HBAR tokens and NFTs coverage, including mints and burns.

With these additions, TRM now supports 36 blockchains in TRM Forensics, allowing users to plot addresses, search transactions, and assess counterparty risk. Additionally, TRM Wallet Screening API provides ownership risk coverage across 89 blockchains, ensuring comprehensive visibility into potential risk exposure.

Enhanced asset price support

We’ve expanded coverage of asset pricing data and significantly increased the time to add new asset prices to within a couple of hours. This gives investigators and compliance teams up-to-date visibility into portfolio balances and transaction volume — even across newly added or obscure tokens.

  • Improved pricing data surfaces more meaningful risky transaction volume, especially across chains
  • Portfolio balance snapshots are more accurate with new and obscure tokens represented with real value
  • Stronger signals in transfers, alerts, and attribution with complete and up to date pricing data
  • Previously “invisible” tokens have actual USD values, enabling investigators to identify transaction patterns that were previously unnoticed

This enhancement fuels better intelligence for compliance teams and investigators — enabling faster, more accurate decision-making.

Expanded unnamed service attribution

TRM has significantly expanded attribution of unnamed services on both UTXO and account-based chains to surface addresses associated with a service such as a mixer, exchange, or bridge versus an individual. We’ve also created new unnamed service entities that group addresses from the same service. This capability enables investigators to:

  • Plot and interact with unnamed services at the entity level, providing aggregate insights into exposure, counterparties, and transfers
  • Make better-informed decisions about when to stop tracing
  • Accelerate investigations by reducing time spent on manually identifying whether an address is part of a service

With this expanded attribution, investigators can trace more effectively.

Unlimited custom entities

TRM continues to enhance custom entities to give investigators more flexibility in managing and analyzing blockchain activity. Our latest enhancement enables investigators to add more addresses and transfers to a single custom entity and gain aggregate insights — making it easier to track large-scale activity.

This upgrade strengthens our Universal Tracing, enabling investigators to seamlessly analyze blockchain activity at both the entity and address levels — all within the same graph.

Simpler experience to trim large transactions

We’ve simplified the experience to trim large, complex transactions — enabling investigators to focus on transfers of interest and quickly remove extra noise from graphs. This new experience is triggered when plotted transactions reach a certain number of input / output nodes or number of transfers — streamlining investigative workflows.

New courses in TRM Academy

We've released three new courses in TRM Academy to deepen proficiency in TRM Forensics and accelerate tracing on TRON and Solana.

  • TRM Forensics Mastery: This course kicks off our first product certification — equipping users with practical skills to trace illicit crypto activity using TRM Forensics
  • Investigating Solana: Learn how Solana differs from other networks, and gain hands-on experience following token movements and conducting cross-chain investigations
  • Tips and Tricks for TRON Investigations: Explore advanced investigative techniques drawn from real-world cases, with a focus on tracing and interpreting on-chain activity within the TRON ecosystem
