TRM Labs Names Former MAS Regulator, Claudia Hui, as Head of Compliance Advisory APAC
TRM Labs, the leader in blockchain intelligence, today announced the appointment of Claudia Hui as Head of Compliance Advisory, Asia Pacific (APAC). This is the first Compliance Advisory role TRM has established in APAC. In the role, Hui will work with financial institutions, crypto businesses, and regulators across the region on detecting and preventing money laundering and financial crime in digital assets, backed by TRM's AI-first blockchain intelligence.
The appointment deepens TRM's advisory capacity as digital asset adoption across Asia Pacific outpaces the compliance programs meant to govern it. As banks and payment firms move into stablecoins, tokenization, and digital asset custody, many are building controls for the first time and want guidance grounded in real intelligence rather than theory.
TRM's compliance advisory practice gives compliance teams expert, intelligence-backed guidance they can act on immediately. Built and delivered by practitioners who have run these programs themselves, it produces finished work products, from inherent risk assessments and virtual asset service provider (VASP) due diligence to risk engine design, threat and exposure analysis, and embedded advisor engagements. TRM's blockchain intelligence underpins every deliverable, so teams get their risk measured and mapped to the specific threats facing their business.
Hui brings a combination of regulatory, banking, and fintech experience to the practice. She served as an Assistant Director in the Payments Department at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), where she played a pivotal role in implementing the landmark Payment Services Act. She went on to lead compliance in industry as Head of Compliance for Singapore at Revolut and as a regional compliance leader at Qashier. That combination, spanning the regulator's chair and the operator's seat, positions her to help institutions meet supervisory expectations in practice, not only on paper.
"Compliance teams across Asia Pacific are being asked to make high-stakes decisions on digital assets, often without a playbook," said Tom Armstrong, Head of Global Compliance Advisory at TRM Labs. "Claudia has sat on both sides of that challenge, as a regulator and as an operator. Her appointment means our customers in the region get advice they can trust and act on."
"I have spent my career on both sides of compliance, shaping the rules at MAS and then meeting them inside fast-growing firms," said Claudia Hui, Head of Compliance Advisory, APAC at TRM Labs. "What sets TRM apart is that its advice is grounded in intelligence no one else has. I am looking forward to helping compliance teams across the region turn that intelligence into programs they can stand behind."
