Financial Crimes Veteran Carlos Verdoni Joins TRM Labs as Account Director for State and Local Law Enforcement

TRM Labs, the leader in blockchain intelligence, announced that Carlos Verdoni has joined as Account Director, North America Law Enforcement (NALE). Verdoni brings over 25 years of investigative experience from the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, and more than a decade of leadership in the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI).

In his role at TRM, Verdoni will work alongside state and local law enforcement agencies to help investigators use blockchain intelligence to trace illicit financial flows, build stronger cases against crypto-enabled financial crime, and connect with the broader law enforcement community working these investigations.

Verdoni began his law enforcement career at the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office in June 2001 and spent the next 25 years there. Over 16 years as a criminal investigations detective, he built his expertise in financial fraud — and starting in 2021, applied that foundation to cryptocurrency investigations. His investigative work earned him numerous accolades and established his reputation as a trusted subject matter expert in financial crimes across the law enforcement community.

Beyond his investigative work, Verdoni has been a member of the IAFCI since 2014. He has held multiple leadership roles within the organization and now serves as Secretary on the IAFCI Executive Board — a position that reflects both his standing in the financial crimes investigator community and the trust his peers place in him.

"Carlos has dedicated his life to doing the investigative work that state and local agencies rely on every day — and is one of the most respected voices in crypto financial crimes investigation,” said Schuyler Hawkins, RVP, US Law Enforcement at TRM Labs. “For agencies that are dealing with these cases for the first time, or scaling up what they already know how to do, having someone in this role who has lived that work matters."

Verdoni noted, "State and local agencies are handling crypto cases that would have been unimaginable a decade ago — fraud, money laundering, narcotics proceeds, all of it moving on-chain. I spent years building investigative skills that I wish I'd had better tools for. TRM has built those tools. I'm looking forward to helping state and local investigators use them to close more cases."

Verdoni joins a growing team of former law enforcement professionals at TRM Labs working alongside state, local, and federal agencies to detect, investigate, and disrupt financial crime involving digital assets.
